Mir Group has been awarded the consultancy for Assessment of Traffic Projections of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the Period from 2011-2030A.D

Mir Projects & Consultants - the project management and consultancy arm of the South India based diversified business house, Mir Group - has been awarded the consultancy Assessment of Traffic Projections of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the Period from 2011-2030A.D.This prestigious consultancy has been awarded to the company through a global bid issued by the Indian government in ANI.

This consultancy undertaken by Mir Projects & Consultants will set the course for tomorrow's transport / traffic requirements across the Andaman & Nicobar. Increase in population, changes in economic activity, lifestyle, other demographic and social developments in ANI have resulted in an increase in the number of vehicles and trips. The forecast by the Ministry of Tourism states that the number of tourists to ANI will grow by over 100% in the next 20 years. In addition to upcoming tourism projects, the Ministry of Shipping is planning a major trans-shipment port at the southern-most island of Great Nicobar to take advantage of the islands' strategic location on the major East-West shipping route.

Hence it is the need of the hour to develop transport facilities and reduce traffic congestion in a sustainable manner without disturbing the islands' unique ecological footprint and carrying capacity.

Proposed to be completed within 10 months, this consultancy calls for a traffic assessment report that will define the air, sea and road traffic infrastructure that will provide cost effective travel within the ANI, between the islands and within the mainland until the year 2030. The report will make use of a combination of urban planning, multi-modal traffic engineering, ecology and economics.

Mir Projects & Consultants will be undertaking the consultancy in association with its Spanish associate Prointec. Prointec is a renowned leader in traffic and transport consulting, having played a pivotal role in the Master Plan for public urban transportation in Oviedo (Spain) and the study of corridor traffic at Navarre (Spain).

In the first half of 2011, Mir Projects & Consultants had made a major entry in the urban infrastructure sector with the development plan of Gwalior Counter Magnet area in the capital city of Delhi. The company has offered consultancy for almost all seaports in India and is the consultant for India's dream railway project for the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India (DFCCIL). The company is also engaged in the land use master plan for the fisheries harbor at Cochin Port.
